Situation
A rebrand of PBS was underway and PBS.org needed a match this new look and feel. When it came to the website, resources were tight. The challenge was to keep what was working and massage the areas that could use help.
Task
As the digital design director of PBS, Kathleen led the research, discovery, strategy, and wireframing of the website redesign. Kathleen also collaborated with the team who created the new PBS brand and design system.
Action
Kathleen juggled conflicting stakeholder input by rapidly prototyping a series of initial sketches. Once the sketches were approved across the board, digital wireframes were created and tested. Kathleen had previously convinced the digital and product teams to invest in usertesting.com which was used to identify opportunities and user pain points.
Result
Kathleen’s work lay the groundwork for the website relaunch MVP and created buy-in from stakeholders across PBS.

Situation
The Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce (NVBCC) provides resources, leadership, and advocacy to help Black-owned enterprises to flourish in Northern Virginia and the DC metro area. This strong organization needed a brand and website that represented its important mission and the needs of its users.
Task
While working as a User Experience Consultant at Reingold, Kathleen partnered with the NVBCC to help convey its mission and increase audience engagement by enhancing its website’s content strategy and information architecture.
Action
Kathleen conducted a kickoff and stakeholder interviews with NVBCC to identify goals. After IA activities, Kathleen recommended simplifying the global navigation and improving the content hierarchy to meet users’ distinct needs. She also encouraged a mobile-first design approach and created a consistent experience across all devices. Designers at Reingold created a meaningful brand and updated the website’s look and feel.
Results
The appealing brand and site design are meeting the NVBCC’s primary goal: to expand the pool of members, sponsors, and community partners who connect with its resources and services.
